Climate Emergency Scam

If it looks like a scam, sounds like a scam, acts like a scam, it probably is a scam. The so-called "climate emergency" ticks all those boxes.

I see it like this: The (global) climate is in a constant state of flux. It always has been and always will be. Nothing we naked apes can do will change that reality, even slightly. What our (supposed) intelligence does allow us to do, is adapt to the changes in our environment or adapt our environment to better suit or needs and tastes. The prime example of this is Industrial civilisation, which gave humanity a once-in-history opportunity to ignore the climate for roughly three hundred years.

All thanks to the bonanza of fossil energy.

To use a well-worn metaphor, Industrial Civilisation is like the proverbial ocean liner that has struck the proverbial iceberg. The iceberg being the non-renewable nature of fossil energy. As long as the Coal held out, the pumps could expell the water as fast as it came in. Early on, when the leaks were small and the Coal bunkers full, the power plant could produce more than enough energy to meet the demands of the pumps and all the other systems. But now the Coal is almost gone and the need for power has only increased, the engines can no longer keep up with demand.

Everyone on-board believes the lifestyle the ship provides is normal. It's the only thing they or anyone they know has ever experienced. And the first-class passengers and officers want to keep it this way.

The first-class passengers aren't concerned about water in the hold. They've become used to lights and all the other luxuries. Since they're the ship's owners, they can tell the crew what they want, and expect to get it. So the pumps get triaged and the water level in the hull is rising. The first class passengers are concerned that these rising waters might adversely affect the crew, or the second and third class passengers in steerage. But only because this may cause unrest and they don't want their boat rocked (at least not in that way).

So, they've employed a scammer to tell the second and third class passengers - the ones in steerage - that the the ship is is not sinking, just taking on water. This is because it's being weighed down by all their money and that the pumps can't keep up because they're using too much light and heat. They can address the problem if they turn off their lights and heat, eat cold meals and load all their money into a lifeboat which the scammer will generously volunteer to row away. The first class passengers know the ship is sinking and plan to continue enjoying all the luxuries the ship can provide before they step aboard their own (luxurious) private lifeboats, as the ship's deck sinks level with them.

There are, of course, some passengers and crewmen, who are getting worried that the ship might actually be sinking. The scammer has convinced a majority of these people that even if this is true, building masts and sails will provide the power needed to keep the pumps working and the lights and heat on and that life can continue as normal. But a minority are pointing out that the ship was designed to run on Coal exclusively and sails can't provide even a fraction of the energy the machinery requires. It would need to be completely re-designed and rebuilt as a sailing vessel and the rescources needed to do that have all been used to build the ship as-is. They also point out that the're aren't enough lifeboats for all the passengers and crew and everyone needs to be building liferafts from the remaing available rescources.

The ones who favor sails are tolerated (even encouraged) by the officers and first-class passengers as they're all wind (if you'll excuse the pun) and are angry at the people advocating liferafts because it disrupts their comforting belief that everything is (or can be) OK. Angry enough to support the scammer and ship's officers to shout them down and lock them up in the Brig.

Does this sound familiar? As I said, if it looks like a scam...

FB  loves diversity. As long as it's anything but opinion.

What can I say? If recycling made any kind of economic sense, it'd be profitable and people would be making a living from it. Instead, it's just a "subsidy-dumpster" creating make-work for societys' parasites.
https://pushingrubberdownhill.com/2019/08/21/the-recycling-scam-exposed/

The wholly preventable disaster that is renewable energy rolls on:

Democracy is far from perfect. But it's still far better for more people than all the alternatives. This is why every 'centrally planned' economy and 'utopian dream' in history has failed. To succeed, a society and economy has to be built on the reality of the human condition.
https://www.ecosophia.net/the-dream-of-a-managed-society/

Actually, a better way to implement a debt Jubilee is to gift every registered taxpayer $300k (that being the mean debt across the population) with the stipulation that it must be used to pay off debt. The recipients can spend whatever is left over on whatever they like. Some will be left with a reduced debt, some with no debt, some with a modest windfall and a few will get a large bonus.

Staked In The Heart doesn't post often, but quality over quantity. Like every other 'cause', Environmentalism is a leftist stalking horse, disguising yet another attempt to transfer wealth from societys' producers to societys' parasites. It works, but only until they run out of other peoples' money. Taking the wealth people produce without compensation, for whatever reason, is called slavery.

Monday Links

Trawling the Interwebs to find thoughtful essays on important topics. There are always two sides in every debate. These represent the side that FB et-al don't want you to see.

A quiet week.

Culture is downstream from race. "Every society is under threat from monsters, often ones they created or allowed to develop in their ranks. The people who survive are those who figure it out and either find a hero to slay the monster or do the job themselves."
http://thezman.com/wordpress/?p=18328

You don't even get a say in who comes here, anymore.
https://pushingrubberdownhill.com/2019/08/15/the-great-australian-replacement/

There's more to this story than the media wanted to report.
https://pushingrubberdownhill.com/2019/08/17/youre-not-a-sex-worker-youre-a-whore/
There are two important points the media ignored in this (preventable) tragedy.
One - The victim wasn't some 'innocent'. Ms Dunn wasn't prostituting herself to pay her way through uni. She was funding a lifestyle.
Two - In all probability, Ms Dunn would be alive today, if she'd been able to defend herself effectively. So where's the feminist outrage?
The media never lets a good tragedy go to waste, but in this case, no guns were involved so there's nothing for them to hang their narrative on. therefore, the story gets the "memory-hole" treatment.

Once again, understanding how the scam works, will help those willing to learn how to navigate the coming storm. The biggest part of the scam, is the idea, instilled from kindergarten onwards, that money fulfills three roles - a medium of exchange, a measure of (comparative) worth and a store of value. It's this last role that's false.
Money is the ultimate intermediary. Change the way money works, and the whole world will change to accommodate it. This is why people like Baron Rothchild say "Give me control of a countrys' money and I care not who governs it."
http://thezman.com/wordpress/?p=18332

Sadly, most people will simply go along with the scam, because that's the path of least resistance.

Monday Links

Don't have time to read all these? Try turning the TV off. It's the biggest waste of your time and the biggest purveyor of disinformation and outright lies.

We aren't going to the stars...or the planets...or even back to the Moon. "Idiocracy" was meant to be a comedy, not a documentary.
"Because I don't know about you, but every time I try to help out a stupid person, try to prevent a young woman from majoring in something stupid, prevent a young man from going into debt, advocate fiscal discipline, or advocate freedom, I'm called a racist, a sexist, a homophobe or just plain "jerk."  And I'm getting sick of it.  I still leave one line in the water to hold out for those genuinely intelligent people who have been misled and brainwashed, but they are the rare minority.  The rest of the people are just plain stupid and arrogant on top of it.  They absolutely deserve to be enslaved.  Besides, it's what they want." (My italics)
https://captaincapitalism.blogspot.com/2018/11/the-role-stupid-people-should-play-in.html

Understand the scam. Humans are by nature, lazy and greedy. Deep-down, every one of us wants resources without having to work for them. That's not a criticism, just a statement of biological fact. A survival mechanism - firmware id you like - hardwired into every one of us from birth. Civilisation and culture channel these traits into positive, productive behaviours that benefit both the individual and the communities in which they're embedded.

Free market Capitalism, combined with fossil-energy, is the only socio-economic arrangement in history that has enabled humans to achieve this without enslaving others. It's the only arrangement that enables more than a minority to retire - a condition where the wealth you worked for when you were able, works for you when you can't. And Western, Christian society and culture created the socio-economic conditions that allowed this arrangement to develop and flourish - rule-of-law, stable currencies, freedom of thought and expression.

Socialism only seeks to steal wealth already created by others and 'redistribute it to societys' parasites.
"I think the true brilliance of the socialists of the world was to fool the masses into thinking they were independent-minded and not the complete tools of socialism they are.  You actually have them thinking they're smart, independent-minded, individuals, in control of their own destiny when they truly are the human batteries that power The Socialist Matrix.  And to that I tip my hat to the socialists.  That was incredibly well-played and your victims deserve precisely what you've given them."

Part 2
https://captaincapitalism.blogspot.com/2018/09/how-government-outsourced-socialism_24.html

This clearly illustrates the difference between the left and the non-Left.
https://captaincapitalism.blogspot.com/2018/07/how-trump-hurts-left-most.html

Do you find it ironic that one of the Socialist Lefts' biggest supporters, is a capitalist oligarch?
https://www.city-journal.org/html/connoisseur-chaos-14954.html?fbclid=IwAR3iE7dv9HvVwnU9b3L31UhyvaxxyvCrSEgtRlNR7_6hq8WusisjNHWWkQ4

Another data point, in the decline and fall of Western, Christian civilisation. The fools pushing this agenda, have no idea what will rush in to fill the vacuum. It won't be the Utopia they imagine.
http://thezman.com/wordpress/?p=18250

Some activities are more resistant to convergence than others. Interestingly, the sports/activities most resistant, appear to be those requiring individual excellence against an objective, immutable standard - like the mountain. Prediction: If the Left can't converge an activity, they'll try to ban it. "All that counts in mountain biking is your skill versus the hill. There is no conceivable way in which to make it more “inclusive” for the terminally inadequate. So for now it appears to be safe from the ravages of the army of darkness. But that won’t stop them from trying and I very much expect to see future attempts to bring yet another hobby of white people to its knees. If somewhere white people are having fun by themselves then this needs to be stopped right away. Because it’s racism, don’t you know."
https://pushingrubberdownhill.com/2019/08/06/the-complete-lack-of-diversity-in-downhill-mountain-biking/

John Greer with some sobering thoughts. We won't be going to the stars. We won't be going to the planets either. We won't even be going back to the Moon. But, we won't be going back to the caves, either. The sooner we accept this, the better off we'll all be.
https://www.ecosophia.net/the-twilight-of-the-monofuture/

JHK on the mass shootings. "In a nation afflicted by fads, crazes, manias, and rages, mass murder is the jackpot for nihilists — begging the question: why does this country produce so many of them? Answer: this is exactly what you get in a culture where anything goes and nothing matters."
https://kunstler.com/clusterfuck-nation/hold-the-teddy-bears-and-candles/

... and on the decline and fall of the Democratic Party. "Maybe “multiculturalism” wasn’t such a good idea after all."
https://kunstler.com/clusterfuck-nation/race-hustle/

Imagine how difficult it will be to get all that 'diversity' to agree on any coherent manifesto once they're in power. Oh wait! You don't have to:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1AXReZgFxw

Because the Left cares for nothing except POWER and their grand strategy forever has been "divide-and-conquer".
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcVzEJdkGEE

Mass shootings; They're the symptom, not the problem. But you can be guaranteed the Left will use these tragedies to further its' political agenda, coughcoughdisarmthepopulationcoughcough but will do nothing to address the cause.

"The problem is not guns. The problem is not the Second Amendment, which as far as I am concerned is sacred writ. The problem is not American gun culture.

The problem is a culture in general that glorifies violence and showers attention upon people who commit terrible atrocities. The problem is the mass media, not mass shooters.

If Americans want to legislate something out of existence... they could jolly well start by banning ABCNNBCBS and the cabal of Bolsheviks who run them all." (My italics)

https://didactsreach.blogspot.com/2019/08/deadly-nerdrage.html

Some cultures are better than others. "Reality is that thing that does not go away when you stop believing in it. Biological reality is no exception. The history of man has been a struggle between people. History, geography and some good fortune made Europeans the dominant people on the globe, because they were willing and able to out-compete their rivals. That’s reality. If Europeans are unwilling to compete, then they will be overrun by their rivals. That too is reality, a realty that will not go away even if the deniers stop believing it."
http://thezman.com/wordpress/?p=18276

The Left infects and corrupts everything it touches. It's a poisoned chalice.
https://captaincapitalism.blogspot.com/2019/08/revenge-of-millennials.html

And it does so by 'weaponising' every cause it can infiltrate and corrupt.

A good deal is self-evident.

So, one has to wonder why the Left needs to use relatively unrelated socio-political movements to disguise its' agenda.
https://www.ecosophia.net/the-next-twilight-of-environmentalism/

The "Blank Slate" theory, disproved. Two hundred years of Socialist meddling isn't going to change two million years of evolution. You can ignore reality but reality won't ignore you.  "The reflexive need for a symmetrical balance – even when there is none – is a human default. ‘Men and women are different’ is a radical statement in this era, not the least of which because it contradicts the Blank Slate religion that persists in spite of itself. When people ask me whether I believe men and women are equals and I answer ‘no’, they look as if I pulled the wings from a butterfly. I believe men and women are complements to each other and we’re better together than apart, but we are not equals. We are different, with differing motives and strategies that are part of who we are. We could achieve a far more harmonious social state by accepting and embracing these differences." (My italics)
https://therationalmale.com/2019/07/26/heirs-of-the-blank-slate/

Even the most good-natured dog will bite you, if you kick it often enough. As it turns out, this 'activist' wasn't murdered by a leftist enemy, but by a "friend" in a drunken brawl. It didn't stop the media from blaming the Lefts' favorite enemies (((white, straight males))) though. But no one should be surprised when the people leftists constantly villify and commit acts of violence against, retaliate.

Monday links too incorrect for FB

Another Monday collection of essays too politically incorrect for the FB censors

I need to put all links to https://didactsreach.blogspot.com here, because FB blocks all links to that blog. That makes it worth reading.

The lunatics are running the saylum...

"... You have to draw a line somewhere, friends. And this loathsome piece of shit is as good a point as any in which to begin." That description also fits the people people who support and encourage him and all the other freaks. It occurs to me, that these freaks deliberately target people who have moral or religious reasons not to do business with them. Maybe this could be grounds for counter-suits for deliberate, targeted intimidation?
https://pushingrubberdownhill.com/2019/07/30/giving-power-to-the-deviants/

#mediabias Notice how this article carefully avoids identifying the ethnicity or religious affiliation of the attackers and is worded to lead the reader to conclude that the attackers are native Frenchmen, when it's all to obvious who the offenders really are.

Even the poorest, most backward nations understand the importance of protecting their borders.
https://didactsreach.blogspot.com/2019/08/a-hard-lesson-from-dirt-world.html

From this essay; Twelve ALTERNATIVE rules for life:
  1. Embrace the iron. Lifting weights will not only help you stand up straight, it will make you stronger, healthier, and more confident. The iron teaches the weak to be strong and it teaches the strong to be humble.
  2. Take the wheel. You are the ultimate architect of your own decisions and actions. Even if you were dealt a bad card by life, even if your genetics are inferior, your upbringing was terrible, and your instincts are suboptimal, you are the only one who can improve yourself. You are driving and only you can determine the destination.
  3. Be the friend that you want to have. Smiles are contagious. Loyalty inspires loyalty. Stand by those who stand by you. Give every friend who fails you a second chance. Only abandon those who have repeatedly proven they cannot be trusted and do not wish you well.
  4. Envision perfection and pursue excellence. You will never achieve perfection. But if you envision it and you strive for it, you may well achieve success, and perhaps even excellence.
  5. Put a ring on it. Marriage is the manifestation of love. Children are the manifestation of hope. Raising a family to serve as the foundation of future generations is how Man rebels against an uncaring universe, a fallen world, and the spirits of despair and destruction. Yes, there are real risks, especially in the current social and legal environment. But they are well worth taking nevertheless.
  6. Set your face against evil. You will encounter evil within and evil without on a daily basis. Stand against all of it, without fear, without hesitation, and without remorse. And when you fail, when you give into temptation, when you are defeated, regroup, repent, and rise again.
  7. Do what is right. Learn to listen to the still, small voice of conscience. Do what you know to be right, not what you can rationalize, justify, or excuse. If you have to talk yourself into something, then you probably already know in your heart of hearts that you are doing the wrong thing.
  8. Tell the truth in kindness. It is too hard and too exhausting to spend all your mental energies trying to keep track of an ever-growing multitude of exaggerations, false narratives, self-serving spins, and outright lies. Just tell the truth, as you best understand it, without taking pride in it or using it to hurt others.
  9. Learn the easy way. You will always encounter those who are stronger, smarter, and more successful than you are. Rather than envying them or attempting to tear them down to make yourself feel better, do your best to learn from them and apply those lessons to your own life. It is considerably easier and more efficient to learn from the mistakes of others than it is to make all of those same mistakes yourself.
  10. Believe the mirror. The most reliably self-destructive mistake you can make is to lie to yourself about who, what, and where you are, because doing so precludes any real self-improvement. Be ruthless with your self-assessments, without wallowing in self-pity or despair.
  11. Get back on the horse. Perseverance is one of the most important skills a man can develop. There is absolutely no substitute for the confidence and the courage that comes from the certain knowledge that you will get up again after an opponent, or life, knocks you down.
  12. Find a best friend. Dogs teach us many things, perhaps the most important of which is what unconditional love is. No matter how rich and successful a man may be, there is no life that the addition of a dog would not considerably improve. And yes, all dogs go to Heaven, obviously, because Heaven would not be paradise without them.
Then, read the whole thing here:

Monday Essays for the Silenced Majority

Every empire in history has followed the same trajectory.

Diversity + proximity = war. That's why nations exist.
https://didactsreach.blogspot.com/2019/07/immigrants-are-global-problem.html

In this piece, the demographic that frightens me is the Nazis, or as I call them, the "Do-Gooders"; people with the congenital inability to "live and let live". They often operate from the most noble of sentiments (like the Temperance League), but the harm they do and have done, is incalculable.
https://captaincapitalism.blogspot.com/2019/07/do-humans-have-value-in-ai-world.html

Substitute "Australia" for "America" and you have an accurate picture of what's happening on this side of the lake. The division here may be simpler than in the U.S. and is developing along the lines of "country" vs "city".
http://voxday.blogspot.com/2019/07/the-two-americas.html

Where are the Greens? Isn't this the sort of environmental vandalism they claim to oppose? Aren't they opposing a proposed wind-farm in Tasmania for exactly the same reason? Have they outlived their utility?

This is part-and-parcel of the decline and fall of a civilisation. John Greer did a whole series of posts on this theme in his old blog "The Archdruid Report".
The short form is that, since the Enlightenment, the role of religion has been replaced by the Academy (shorthand for all the sciences) and like religion before it, it's harnessed to the service of the dominant minority (elites) who use it to justify their rule. In our declining civilisation, the animosity of the ordinary people is directed at all the institutions seen to be supporting what they percieve to be a corrupt, incompetent oligarchy. Fed-up with the "dominant minority", people are turning their backs on the institutions that support them (including the Academy) and are seeking meaning and purpose in the margins. Precisely where religion was relegated, at the start of the Industrial Revolution.

Opinions FB Would Prefer You Didn't Read

What is Facebook? A "platform" or a publisher? Apparently, they think they can be both! It appears Facebook has been quietly blocking some of my posts. I can still see them, so I didn't know they're blocked until I saw a couple of "counter-articles" posted immediately below one (on the climate change scam) I linked to (that wasn't blocked) and followed the settings to find out what they were and why they'd appeared on my page.

Knowing that FB censors opinions it disagrees with, I'm going to collate all the good articles and links I find into blog posts here and just alert everyone on FB when I put one up.
So here are the links FB has blocked over the last couple of weeks, along with my comments.

"Nations are a wonderful thing. People need to have a sense of identity, of belonging, of roots. As one of those who doesn't really have a nation, but merely a passport, I wish more Westerners could understand just how privileged they are to belong to their nations - and to have passports that are worth considerably more than the paper that they are printed on."
https://didactsreach.blogspot.com/2019/07/the-neo-tsar-against-neo-liberals.html

A few gems from the blogs I follow... It appears the Greens believe it's possible to simultaneously promote and oppose the same environmental initiatives:
http://catallaxyfiles.com/2019/05/16/green-energy-runs-into-green-lawfare/

But what do you expect from a group whos' collective conversation with objective reality (and the rest of the world) has become a monologue?
https://www.ecosophia.net/a-conversation-with-the-world/

And the result is that the inmates are now running the asylum:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9W-KEIoI7go

Just so no-one can claim I'm biased (actually, I am), Capitalism is also going feral. Increasingly, this is how employers in the West treat their workers. Still, this kind of nonsense has a very short 'use-by' date: https://didactsreach.blogspot.com/2019/05/domain-query-reactor-scrag-inevitable.html

Contrast that, with a company that values its employees:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pi6Q377Hh08

This one is particularly important!  "Diversity breeds distrust. Distrust breeds discivic behaviour. Discivic behaviour leads, always and everywhere, to the collapse of once-superior and strong civilisations. To argue otherwise is to ignore the often-harsh and painful lessons of history, in which high-trust societies became low-trust ones and started falling to pieces, gradually at first, then faster and faster, until nothing was left of them but a few charred and broken remains."

Musical deckchairs on the Titanic

Dmitri Orlov's recent essay looks at the question, which ideology - Capitalism or Socialism - is best in a collapse scenario. (This essay is behind a paywall. I strongly recommend you subscribe $1/month to receive his remarkably good content.) Predictably, Dmitri comes out in favor of Socialism, given the wealth of essays he's written on the collapse of the Soviet Union and his comparisons with the United States. In this particular case, Socialism has a proven track-record. The Soviet Union may be gone, but the Russian Federation remains and its' people survived relatively unscathed. While the jury's still out on whether Capitalism will help the People weather an economic collapse, the odds of muddlin' through without a revolution or civil war don't look anywhere near as good.

From its earliest beginnings when, as John Greer so eloquently described, Mankind unlocked Natures' treasure-chest of fossil-fuel energy and unleashed a wave of wealth the likes of which had never existed before in Human history, the biggest single question has been; "What do we DO with it?" Capitalism and Socialism are simply the two ideologies that answered this question and survived the Darwinian selection process, to dominate political and economic thinking.

But which ideology "best", in a collapse scenario? Both ideologies are artifacts of Industrialism. They were both born out of the unique circumstances that enabled the Industrial Revolution and they'll both become irrelevant when Industrialism finally reaches the end of the Hubbert curve. There is no doubt that Industrial civilisation is in decline. And it has been, since it reached its' high-water-mark on 20th July, 1969. (Everyone alive at that time, remembers exactly where they were on that day.) No matter what the greenies and cornucopians say, Industrial civilisation is designed and optimised to run on fossil energy. Oil is to Industrialism, what water is, to your body; There is NO substitute! Peak Oil occurred in 2005. Peak Coal is right now. Peak natural Gas is less than a decade away.

So, when the industrial world finally splutters to a halt, with the fuel gauge reading "E", the socio-economic ideologies that evolved to answer the question "What do we do with all the wealth?" will be about as relevant as a bicycle is to a fish. The reality is, that the arguments between Capitalism and Socialism are just squabbling over deck chairs on a proverbial Titanic.

So, what socio-economic ideology would be "best" in a collapse scenario? The answer depends on a number of factors, many of which are variable and few of which are predictable - climate instability, for example. But what can be predicted with certainty is that whatever society succeeds ours, its inhabitants will have to get by without the vast amounts of energy that we command.

Think 95% less energy or more.

No fossil fuels means the end of "industrial" agriculture  and that means that there will be less people. A LOT less people! Industrial agriculture is what enables seven billion Humans to inhabit this planet at the same time. Agriculture, without fossil fuelled machinery could optimistically support around one billion souls, probably fewer, given how industrial acricultural practices have degraded vast tracts of once fertile soils. That assumes that 90% of them are occupied growing food or directly supporting those who do. Hunter-gathering could support, at most, a few million, globally.

Abundant energy underpins the accumulation of vast pools of capital. Vast pools of capital enable the creation of enormous wealth. Without abundant energy, there won't be that much wealth to argue over. So, in a post-industrial world, the most pressing question is more likely to be "How do we survive?" And that's going to require answers that are completely different to those supplied by Capitalism or Socialism.

But there are answers to be had. The energy bonanza that enabled industrial civilisation is only a three hunderd year 'blip' in a Human story that stretches back for millenia and probably has less than a century left to run. Thousands of generations lived without the industrial conveniences we consider normal and while most would be considered 'poverty' by our standards. But people survived and sometimes even thrived. Three or four generations from now, people will need to live like that again.

Between now and then, is a period of slow (but accelerating) decline. Optimists will point to record stock market valuations and other such 'indicators' of 'prosperity'. But real, tangible wealth is in decline everywhere. Subtract all the 'wealth' generated by 'speculative' activity (particulary in the 'Financial' sector) and what remains is the actual, physical economy. It's not hard to see that the real economy has been in freefall for decades.
